Creamy Dried Beef Gravy

Make this easy, old-fashioned dried beef gravy recipe in 15 minutes. Rich, creamy, and perfect, served hot over warm toast or cornbread waffles.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ lb dried beef
  • 2 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh herbs (parsley and/or dill)
  • Cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions:

In a large pan, melt the butter. Add the flour and stir until smooth. Slowly pour in the milk, and stir until smooth. Add the cream and boil the mixture until thickened. Cut the dry beef into small pieces and add to the gravy. Serve hot over warm toast or cornbread waffles. We love sprinkling fresh herbs on top for a pretty garnish and added flavor. If you want a bit of a kick, sprinkle with cayenne pepper.
